A number of you have asked me to share some information about myself and my husband so you can get to know us better. Your wish is our command!
My name is Ellie and my husband’s name is Mr. Handsome. Of course that’s not the name on his birth certificate, but I’m into nicknames, so I thought that would be a fun way to refer to him on my blog.
We tied the knot in June 2015. I plan to write additional posts about our wedding, but I’ll tell you right now that it was quite the production. We had a short engagement (three months), invited more than 500 guests to our wedding, and served a full meal. (Thankfully, only 300 people showed up.) We also held the reception in Mr. Handsome’s family’s backyard.
If we had not had so much help from our immediate families and extended relatives, we would have had no chance of pulling off such a big event in only three months.
After the wedding, we jetted off to Grand Cayman for a week honeymoon before moving to Tennessee. My dad graciously gave us airline points, so the only thing we paid for was a rental car and a condo.
Mr. Handsome is a dentist, and I am a journalism major. Both of us have a passion for serving others and making an impact on the world. Right now, my time is consumed by blogging, setting up our home, writing thank you notes, finding my way around our new town, and doing paperwork for my husband. When the latter three things subside, I plan to look for a part-time job that allows me to use my writing skills.
Both of us would love to have a “large” family (about 5-10 children…probably not 19) and are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for our future. Right now, we are focusing on growing closer to each other and the Lord.
We enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and camping. Mr. Handsome is an avid fisherman, and I am currently trying to develop an appreciation for that hobby. It must be working because I spent over an hour wading in water that had to be about 60 degrees yesterday evening, and even though I didn’t catch a single fish, I still managed to enjoy myself. I’m not sure why…
So that’s us in a nutshell. We’re pretty exciting, aren’t we?
Sonya
Thank you for a great post! It is so fun to "meet" you both! What a great couple! I would love to know how you and your mom decided to start writing about the Duggars – and when did you first get to meet them? We would love to know how you and your husband met too:) When we visited Nashville we just loved the meat and threes – it is such a great town!! – Sonya

Thank you for sharing the photos and information about yourselves because I love reading your blogs about the Duggars and Bates families, and I have hoped to get to know more about you. I am so happy for you on your recent marriage and look forward to hearing more about it and seeing more of the photos. That was so sweet!!! Thanks for sharing π How old are you?

What an awesome post!!! You two make the cutest couple! Just out of curiosity, how old are you and "Mr. Handsome"? (If you don't mind sharing!) I think it would be really fun if you had a poll to see how old all of your readers guessed you to be! π

Seriously, I think you need to find something to call your husband besides Mr. Handsome. Why not call him Handsome, instead of Mr. Handsome. It just sounds to weird and formal.

I like the name π

I think the nick name "Mr. Handsome" is a good idea if she doesn't want to reveal his real name. If he's a dentist he probably doesn't want his patients to google him and find out about his private life.

How old are you guys?
Sonya
I also love the name – I call my son Mr. Carl all of the time!

I totally disagree, Mr. Handsome is an adorable nickname, not weird at all!

Thanks for answering questions I've had ever since first hearing about Mr Handsome. Since our common ground is the Duggars, I always wondered how much of their lifestyle you were living as well. Did you have more of a courtship, dating relationship, or somewhere in between? My late hubby and I pretty much took what we knew of either one; the purpose being to determine if we were right for each other as marriage partners. So the term "dating with a purpose" fits pretty well. Our parents were supportive bystanders, not chaperones, and we got involved in church stuff together. Would you be planning on homeschooling your future children as well? Have you found a good church home in Nashville yet? You don't have to say which church, but I am curious about what denomination. Looking forward to your next posts.

Hi godly-young-widow,
Thanks for being such a loyal reader on all our blogs!
Mr. Handsome and I like the term "dating courtship" or "dating with a purpose." Neither of us had ever been in a relationship before meeting each other, and we were very much "marriage minded." We definitely plan to homeschool our children. Mr. Handsome was homeschooled until 8th grade, and I was homeschooled for my last two years of high school. We both loved it.
We are still trying out different churches in the area. We will most likely settle in a Baptist church. π
Hope you have a relaxing weekend!
Ellie

That is wonderful – my good friend's father is a Pastor at Brentwood Baptist (a beautiful area!). How did you and Mr. Handsome meet? Did you both go to the same college? Have fun exploring a new area!

Do you choose to wear pants or only skirts and dresses, if you don't mind? π

If you don't mind answering, how old are you and Mr. Handsome??? How long have you known each other?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi Sonya,
I lived with a group of Christian girls in college. One was Mr. Handsome's sister, and I started spending time with her family because they lived close by and my family was two hours away. Mr. Handsome and I got to know each other at family gatherings, and several months later, he asked my dad for permission to start a relationship. π

We're both in our mid-20s, although Mr. Handsome is a few years older than me. π

You ARE an exciting couple and you enjoyed the hour long, 60 degree wade fishing for two reasons, no three: you are newly weds, you were with Mr. Handsome and you are a Proverbs 31 wife…a good wife. I love your blog and the Duggar family accounts.

I didn't see a comment with three questions. It must not have gone through. Feel free to try again. π
