Within a couple days of releasing my “Ask Ellie” post back in early November, I received dozens of questions, suggestions, and feedback from readers. I promise that I read through every single comment and that I am using them to plan my posts. One reader asked: What did you and Mr. handsome do on your first date, and how long after you started dating did he propose?
Mr. Handsome and I started our relationship in April 2013. After we had been getting to know each other at family functions for several months, he received my dad’s permission to invite me on a date and ask me to be his girlfriend.
On our first date, we attended an MLB (major league baseball) game near the town where my husband was enrolled in dental school. He and his family are huge MLB fans, and they go to games whenever they can.Β The date went very well, and although I didn’t quite understand the game, I had a blast with Mr. Handsome. When it was over, he asked me if I would like to be his girlfriend, and I said yes!
Mr. Handsome proposed in March 2015, which was 23 months after we started our “dating courtship,” and we tied the knot in June. For more on our relationship, take a look at my “How I Met My Husband” post.

What a cute story! π How did you know he was the one God had for you? Had you known before he asked you on the date or was it during the date that He told you?

Thank you! As we got to know each other in the months leading up to the first date, I started thinking he could be the one. When he asked me to pursue a relationship, I had a good feeling he was the one, and then as our relationship progressed, I became even more sure.

I have a game suggestion for u Ellie. Its called the Bible game And this is how u play
1.U and whoever ur playing with take a piece of paper and wtite ur name on each side where u can put points down for whomever guesses right.
2. So u guess a Bible person but don't say it out loud and have the other person or people have to guess yes or no questions such as is it a male or a female is it in the old or new testament and so on until the person or people guess the name of the person and whoever guesses gets a point

Thanks for sharing that! We will have to try it. Sounds similar to the game 20 Questions.

Hi there!
I knew he was the man for me by the time we had been dating for a few months. π

You looked nice in the purple and pink tops which rightly drew attention to your glorious countenance, that you apparently enhanced very well with a bit of blush.

Aww, thank you! π

Do you wear make up or did you get a bit of a sunburn?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
My face always seems to be a little pink. In this particular picture, I'm only wearing a tiny bit of makeup, but I usually wear eye liner and blush and sometimes eye shadow.
Merry Christmas!

Were your dates chaperoned?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi there,
We spent most of our time with family and friends, but we did go on some dates without chaperones.
Merry Christmas!

What did the proposal consist of? Does Mr. Handsome have a different perspective or different emotions regarding how it went?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi Natalie Jo,
Here's the link to my post that contains the proposal story: https://www.nashvillewife.com/2015/08/how-i-met-my-husband.html
Mr. Handsome enjoyed planning the proposal and was thrilled that he was able to completely surprise me. He did say that he had expected a more emotional response when he asked me to marry him. Although I was overjoyed and said yes right away, it took me a few minutes to take everything in and show my excitement.
Thanks for being a loyal reader. π
