Here in Tennessee, we’re experiencing the early stages of the massive winter storm “Jonas” that is headed for the East Coast. For us, the snow will taper off this evening, with 3-6 inches of accumulation forecasted.
This is normal winter weather in the Midwest (where Mr. Handsome and I are from), so we were puzzled to hear that every single one of my husband’s dental patients had canceled their appointments for today and tomorrow.
Just another positive of Southern living…more snow days! Our relatives back in the Midwest are going to be jealous.
Here’s something to make you laugh:
*The top picture is one I took in my family’s backyard several years ago, and the bottom snapshot shows what it looks like outside our front door this morning.

Wow, I heard about this storm, it is really a big one! I live out of the way of it to the north west. Stay warm there.

UGH!! So Jealous π We hardly ever get snow!!! π

4 inches is really minor… at least for us in the Canadian Rockies!

Wow, 4 feet..! I live in the Netherlands and also heard about that storm. My husband and I were a bit jealous, even 4 inches snow is a lot here, it's hardly more than 2 inches and just once a year… Enjoy and stay safe! Sarah

I have family that are in Atlanta and we are from Michigan, the reason everything shuts down is southerners do not maintain plows and salt, so even though the snow is minimal there is nothing to clear it
Katie
Exactly! Schools close because the roads aren't safe for buses!

Hi Mary,
We're not Mennonite, although some of my husband's ancestors were. We are Bible-believing Christians who strive to follow God's leading in our lives.
I'm blessed to have you as a reader.

I don't know if you yourself wear pants or only skirts and dresses, but what is the Biblical foundation for wearing only skirts and dresses? I have heard people cite the verse before that says a woman should not wear a man's garment, but pants were not a man's garment when that was written! I am simply curious to hear why people have certain convictions. π

So glad I live in central Texas! It's sunny and 57 here. Though 57 is really cold to me. Can't wait for Spring and Summer!

I grew up in ND so I can understand you being puzzle, but people down here and I live west of you don't really know how to drive on this. In addition, the towns, counties etc don't have the equipment to deal with it. So be careful, stay home, and don't venture out because people drive like it isn't there if they can't see it.

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. A few inches of snow is nothing for us.

Hi Winnipeg, from Winnipeg. Now I am wondering about you my fellow Winnipeger!

Yes that is true, so Ellie how would you like this northern lifestyle for the months of November thru March?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Northern winters definitely are a lot more intense. I was born in Alberta, Canada, and have been back to visit, so I feel your pain. π

What brought you and Mr. Handsome to Tennessee?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi there,
My husband plays bluegrass/gospel music as a hobby, and Nashville is a great city for that kind of thing. That's really the only reason why we moved here, but we're really enjoying it. One of his brothers also lives here, and another plans to move here after he graduates.
Blessings,
Ellie

I'm curious about your rental home… how long do you plan on renting it and why did you choose to rent? Do you plan on moving somewhere else? π
Love your blog!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi there,
I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying my blog! We are renting so we can save money to hopefully buy a house debt-free. We are also new to the area and are not yet ready to decide where we want to live long-term. So far, we are really enjoying Tennessee. π

I hope you won the snowball fight.
My second cousin just move down to Tennessee last year and her dog was so happy to see snow. She lived in Chicago before. I told her the snow followed her to Tennessee.

In southern mississippi, if we get enough snow to measure (read:any) every five years, it's very surprising. We do get cold, though. Occasionally ice. The cold down here is bone chilling cold, way colder than the Midwest cold which is dry. Here, the air must be saltier, so the cold is colder and the hot is hotter. It's the only thing I can figure out.

Its the same in Virginia. Terrible humidity in the Summer and the same for winter.

I wish it would snow in Southern California. I live in LA and haven't seen snow in over two years.
