Interview with Hit Songwriter Keith Getty

Keith and Kristyn Getty with their three Irish daughters
(Grace, Charlotte, and Eliza Joy)

The NRB Convention has been a blast. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of interviewing Keith Getty from Getty Music (video below).

Keith and his wife Kristyn are modern hymn writers whose songs, the most famous of which is "In Christ Alone," are sung by an estimated 100 million churchgoers each year. They have three daughters and split their time between Nashville and Northern Ireland.

Fans can keep up with the Gettys via their website (GettyMusic.com) or Facebook page (Keith and Kristyn Getty)

Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law Mae for filming!

He might be a hit songwriter, but I have no idea who Keith Getty is.

Thanks Ellie, I really enjoyed the interview and getting to know a little about the Getty's - "In Christ Alone" is one of my favorite songs!

    1. Thank you! It's one of my favorites, as well. My mother-in-law gave me singing lessons a couple years ago, and that was one of the songs we sang. :)

Nice interview Ellie! Thank-you, because I did not know this gentleman before and know I know quote a bit about him. A man who composes hymns should be very nice and have a house full of angels!

Your page views are getting really high so maybe give away one of his CDs when you hit 1,000,000.

  8. Great interview. You came up with good questions for him. Did your arm get tired holding the microphone for that long?

    1. Thank you, Meg! My arm did get tired. I repositioned it for the other interviews. (I'll post those soon.)

Thank you for sharing that. I love the song In Christ Alone; at my church it's often a go-to song for Christmas, Easter/Good Friday and communion. It really sums it up. Hope to see more such interviews. I met Tammy Trent at one of her concerts 9 months after my hubby's death; we have that in common. What a beautiful experience. Have a great day

  11. Thank you, Godly-Young-Widow! The church I attended growing up also used "In Christ Alone at Easter and Communion.

You have been a long-time reader of my blogs, but I feel like I hardly know anything about you. I would love it if you would share a few facts about yourself. :)

How sweet! I'm in my mid-40s, Canadian, and lost my husband in summer of 2008. I recently marked having been widowed longer than married. We didn't have kids, but had a dog that recently died. I have a lot of small jobs; piano teaching is my favorite. It balances with my business; here's my website www.quinoanmore.ca . I enjoy reading on the Duggar family, though recent developments in their homeschool group has me worrying about them at times; especially the daughters. Oh yeah; we had hoped to go to Nashville on our honeymoon but couldn't afford it; kept putting it off for a future trip. It would be fun to meet you and other Christian music artists like Keith Getty

Thanks for allowing me to get to know you better! I'm very sorry for your loss, but I admire your ability to keep on keeping on. What a neat business you have! I'm blessed to have you as a reader, and I hope that you continue to enjoy my blog. :)

What do you mean by recent developments in the Duggar's homeschool group?

    1. Hi there!

We don't attend the Bates' church. We live in Nashville, so if you'll be visiting the Knoxville area, we're still three hours away. :)
