3 Peaceful Landscapes and a Stormy Sea

March 9, 2016 by 40 Comments

A few readers have asked how Mr. Handsome’s painting career is going, so I’ll give y’all an update.Remember back in December and January, when I posted pictures of his first three paintings? He has continued to create two or three paintings every month.

During the cold winter months when there hasn’t been much to do outside on the weekends, painting has been a great hobby for my husband and a creative way for him to de-stress. Our living room and kitchen are attached, so I usually sit at the kitchen table and work on the computer while he paints.

Here are his four latest masterpieces. What do you think? (Click here to see his first painting.)

The next step is to find a way to hang these beautiful works of art in our home. We have friends who have a wood shop and have offered to let Mr. Handsome use their machines to create frames. (We always look forward to our weekly Bible study with them and a few other individuals and young couples.)

They are all great!! My favorite is the the stormy sea. First I love the sea it is my happy place. Second it reminds of how God is our peace in the storm. Tell Mr Handsome to keep up the good job.

A pretty traditional subject matter and technique, a very impressionist. Just for fun, I'd like to see him do some abstract/expressionist work! All artists should try to mix up their work and experiment from time to time! Very nice though, he shows talent for not having any formal training.

Wow! These are great! I really like the sea painting it looks really good. The barn paintings look very peaceful. Wish I lived in a place like that out in the country. I'm guessing he's not a fan of painting people? Would love to see a painting of you Ellie.
Your home will soon look like an art gallery if you hang all of his paintings up.

Thank you! He hasn't tried painting a person yet, but maybe that will come soon. People are definitely a lot more difficult to paint than landscapes, or even animals. I'm hoping that he will paint a picture of our family someday!

    Hi Ellie!
First of all I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your blogs. I look forward to reading all of your posts! I am fan of the Duggars, Bates, and now you! I just have a few questions for you if you could possibly answer if you have a spare moment.
Do you wear skirts all the time? I know you said that you don't have the same standards as the Duggars but was just curious.
Also, do you court or date and what are your rules? My eldest daughter is almost 17 and has started thinking about courting and I am not that experienced with the subject and my husband and I are looking for some insight from wonderful people like you!
Again.. I LOVE YOUR BLOGS!!!!! You and your mom are so great. It is so amazing that you two have such a bond. I hope that once my daughters grow up we will be the same way. Thanks again!

God Bless you and your family!
    Susan

      Hi Susan,

Thank you for your kind words! I'm flattered that you value my opinion. I apologize for the delayed response. I wanted to make sure to do your question justice. ๐Ÿ™‚

My husband and I called our relationship a dating courtship. We set up boundaries at the start of our relationship, and we continued to discuss those boundaries throughout our relationship to ensure that we were following our God-given convictions.

There isn't one hard and fast way to approach relationships, but it is really important that the guy and gal are on the same page and are not "unequally yoked." It is also important that both are approaching the relationship with marriage in mind. For two Christians, the goal of a dating/courting relationship should be to glorify God and to determine whether you are meant to be married.

When she is in a relationship, I would encourage your daughter to actively avoid situations where it would be easy to cross boundaries.

I would also encourage her to get to know the guy as friends before entering into an official relationship. That will give her a good idea of how he acts in social situations beforehand, and it will also established a strong friendship that will continue into marriage, if that is God's will. I also encourage you and your husband to try to get to know the boy's parents and family.

My family and I spent a significant amount of time getting to know my husband and his family before the two of us entered into a relationship. I also spent a lot of time by myself with him and his family. That helped me to develop close relationships with his family members that are now much stronger than they would have been if we would have started our dating courtship immediately after we met.

Hope this helps! I am blessed to have you as a reader! ๐Ÿ™‚

It is election season. There is so much politics talk in the news. Who do you support/are you voting for? Why? Do you read the newspaper to keep up to date with it all? I would like to read a blog post about it.

      Hi there,

Out of the candidates who are currently in the race, we support Cruz. He appears to be a godly and very intelligent man who would lead our country well. There are a few other candidates whom we considered, but they have either already dropped out or are likely to drop out (ie Rubio).

To answer your other question, we have been keeping up with the election news very closely. At the NRB convention, my sister-in-law and I were able to attend a private press conference with Dr. Carson and 25 others. Later that day, I had to go home to take care of a few things, but she stayed and listened to Cruz and Dr. Carson speak.

I love these paintings! Some things I like are the animals,
the strange dead looking trees, the sea green sea waves with deep blue sea waves also, the worn away dirt path going to the barn, and so on, a pleasure to look at and study, they are saying things as well as just being scenery. Thank-you!
