We live in Nashville, Tennessee, known across the globe as Music City. While we don’t attend concerts every weekend, we have quite a few friends who are part of the professional country/bluegrass music scene, and we enjoy supporting their endeavors.
One of those folks, Mo Pitney, recently hosted his CD release part at The Station Inn. (Mo and his wife are in our Bible study.) We enjoyed chatting with other friends while listening to Mo perform songs off his new album, “Behind This Guitar.” He is in his mid-twenties, but if you heard him sing without seeing a picture, you could easily mistake him for 65. His voice certainly has an “old country” feel to it.
Below is the music video of “Boy & A Girl Thing,” my favorite song by Mo. (“Everywhere” and Mo’s rendition of “Give Me Jesus” are two of my other favorites.) If you’re interested in learning more about him or purchasing his album, visit mopitney.com.

so, basically an entire song about how gender roles are a great thing? wow…. how sad. :'(

Some gender roles are great! girls/woman and boys/men are not the same as each other. I hope you understand that:).

Saying we're not the same is a sweeping generalization. Emotions know no gender. Abilities know no gender. We are the same, and traditional gender roles are outdated. Forcing boys to act one way and girls another, without room for choice, has no place in today's society. Let children be free to choose whatever they want to be, and however they want to be it!

I don't see how there's gender roles in this song.

Thank you for your well wishes! It sounds like the fires are in East Tennessee. We are hoping they will be contained soon.

What about a boy and a boy thing? Or a girl and a girl? Love is love. I hope everyone finds it where they can. Nobody should have to go through life feeling unloved or alone.

What are you talking about ? Do you understand the song at all? It talks about a lil boys childhood crush on the lil neighbor girl and they grow up together. That's what the song is about and nothing else so let's not try to change the point or meaning.

A boy loving a boy or a girl loving a girl in that situation is not natural. Also as the comment above states its about a little boy having a crush on a little neighbor girl. I think its a super cute song:)

What if the little boy has a crush on the little neighbor boy? That's also natural. It happens all the time in nature, with many species on this planet.

So true, there are many animals who choose same-gender partners for all sorts of behaviors and rituals, and it's perfectly natural. We should apply this understanding to each other, too.

We saw Mo play last January. He was fantastic. His voice and what he looks like definitely do not match!

So they "throw around I love you's," and "start making plans to say I do." She's wearing only an engagement ring. Then they "start a brand new life together," and the next thing you see is a baby. When was the wedding?? No mention of that. Just a "life together." Maybe there wasn't a wedding til after the baby? She has a wedding ring on when she gets mad at him, but we don't see one before that. Kind of glossed over a few important details there?

I guess it does skip some stuff doesn't it? That's the downside of a song. π

Stuff like that drives me nuts in movies. I'll be watching James Bond fighting villains but all I can think about is when does he eat, sleep, brush his teeth, go to the bathroom, or do his laundry? They always seem to leave those parts out.

If a person doesn't have anything nice to say they shouldn't say anything at all. Treat others as you'd want to be treated!

Moe visited my office in NY when a co-worker entered us in a radio contest. He was warm and funny and very talented, and patiently signed lots of autographs.
