My wonderful husband wanted to help me blog, so he spent several hours yesterday afternoon writing Christmas-themed guest posts and creating musical recordings of popular Christmas carols.
His first order of business was to work up a guitar version of “Silent Night” and make a YouTube video. Then he proceeded to create a tutorial on how to play it. Both clips are embedded below. I look forward to sharing more of Mr. Handsome’s work with y’all in the coming days.
What are your favorite Christmas carols?
Shela G
Awesome job Mr Handsome!! Silent night is my favorite Christmas song probably because it was my mom's so when I hear it it Reminds me of the Christmases I had with her.

Thank you, Shela! We're glad the song helped you recall Christmas memories with your mom. ๐

Your husband is so sweet! I'm really looking forward to those posts he wrote to help you ๐ His playing of silent night was gorgeous by the way. What I particularly like with christmas hymns, is that they never get old, every year they are just as beautiful as the year before, just with more (hopefully) precious memories… By the way, my favorite christmas carols are O come Emmanuel and Hallelujah (written by Leonard Cohen).

Thank you for your kind words! I agree, Christmas hymns never get old. And I love hearing the various musical arrangements that have been released over the years.

My favorite ones would have to be Jingle Bells as well as The 12 Days of CHRISTmas. Feliz Navidad would be considered a "favorite" for personal reasons…
nashvillewife@gmail.com
The 12 Days of Christmas is a major tongue twister. LOL. But it's fun to listen to!

IKR!? It's so much fun that with the help of a few friends, I've rewritten the Song.

Neat!

Thanks. Maybe once it's uploaded I can share it with you.

I have so many favorites, and just got a new one today. Children Again by Jason Gray. Thanks for sharing; it's so beautiful.

I'll have to check that one out. I really enjoy Jason Gray's music. Thanks for the idea. ๐

Alicia Mae
Your husband is so thoughtful! And his rendition of Silent Night on the guitar is beautiful. I can't pick a single favorite (Christmas music is my jam), but Here We Come A-wassailing, Good King Wenceslas, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing all really make me think of Christmas and spending time with family!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Well thank you, Alicia Mae! I don't know that I've ever heard Here We Come A-wassailing, although I've heard other people mention it. I'll have to look it up. ๐

I can't possibly pick a favorite Christmas song!
But I do have to say that it has to talk about our Savior for it to be on my "favorites" list.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Yes, I agree! ๐

Do You Hear What I Hear? is one of my all time favorites!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
That's one of my favorites, too! I always laugh at the part that says "A child, a child, shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold." But I really do love the song. "Little Drummer Boy" is another one that you don't hear people mention too often, but it's also one of my favorites.

My son is learning to play guitar. With no previous experience with music whatsoever it has been a challenge! He's nine years old.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Good for him! Is he teaching himself, or has he been taking lessons?
Ellie

He's taking lessons with a wonderful music teacher!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
That's great! Encourage him to stick with it, even if he wants to quit. I took violin lessons for five years as a child before quitting, and I definitely wish I had stuck with it.

O Holy Night is my absolute favorite Christmas song. Followed by Carol of the Bells.

Mr Handsome sure is a man of many talents! Silent night is beautiful on guitar. The first time this song was ever performed, Christmas Eve 1818 in Austria, was on a guitar.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
That's neat. I hadn't heard the story behind the song, so I looked it up after seeing your comment. Pretty interesting!
