I recently had the honor of screening the movie To Joey, With Love. The film tells the incredible story of husband-and-wife country music duo Joey+Rory.
Filmed by the couple on their small farm south of Nashville, the film provides a uniquely intimate peek inside their lives. After nearly 12 years of marriage, Joey and Rory Feek welcome a beautiful baby girl, but shortly after the birth, Joey is diagnosed with cancer. In the two years that follow, Joey and Rory share the trials and triumphs of their new normal.
The film is a tear-jerker but is so worth seeing. I am amazed by the positive attitude and strong faith that both Joey and Rory are able to maintain in the midst of a grueling cancer battle. Through it all, they choose joy.
To Joey, With Love is scheduled to be released on DVD December 20th. (Visit the film’s website to pre-order.) I will also be running a giveaway later this month.
Mr. Handsome and I have friends who know the Feeks, and they have nothing but good things to say about the family. If you have seen the movie, I would love to hear what you thought of it.

I watched the movie when it was out in October and I also listened to their music when they were still performing. Their story is incredible, and both Joey and Rory are extraordinary people for going through such a rough battle and hanging onto their faith and hope. They speak to the hearts of anyone who has lost a loved one over a disease without a purpose, like myself. For anyone interested Rory has a blog called This Life I Live that detailed their battle and his life now with baby Indiana. Their music is also amazing and inspirational too. Ellie do you listen to their music? Thank you for highlighting this great couple.

I have heard a few of their songs, but not many. After seeing the movie, I'm definitely going to listen to more.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. π

I have followed their story, probably because it is a lot like my story. I was diagnosed with colon cancer the day after our daughter, Sarah Olivia Hope, was born. I have been blessed, God felt like I had more work to do on this earth. I have been cancer free for 16 years and we have adopted 2 beautiful children from around the world. I have bad days…but I have to remember that God has a plan and it is His will for me to still fight and keep on living for my family. I hope to see this movie soon, their story has caused many tears to fall, but is also so full of hope. Thank you for posting this…I needed to be reminded to today that I am blessed!

Thank you for sharing your story, Kathy. What an inspiration. And so neat that you adopted two children. We know someone who is in the middle of adopting a girl from China. If you don't mind my asking, where are your kids from?
God bless you and your family!

Dear Ellie,
I agree that this is a sad and moving story and my heart goes out to anybody who is sick or has to deal with losing a beloved family member.
However, I would like to point out that Rory and Joey have triggered quite a lot of discussions with their song "A bible and a belt" in which they seem to openly promote spanking your child. This is something that I consider extremely dangerous. For me, any kind of violence is wrong in child-raising (especially if you have a special needs child!).
Therefore I will not watch or support this movie. What do you think about this topic?

If you see the movie and read Rory's blog you'll see what kind of people they are. I don't believe that they advocate any kind of violence just more like good old fashioned discipline in general. If you get to know the character of these two people I don't think you'll have any issue with them.

Wow, I just looked up the lyrics for that song π
I have worked with young people all my professional life, over 25 years, and I find such sentiments very troubling.

Annie
Thank you so much for posting this trailer. Joey's story will live on as a reminder to cherish every second we are given with our loved ones, and find daily joy in marriage. When I get frustrated or angry with my husband, I imagine him being taken away from me as we know not the date nor the hour. Life is beautiful if we set aside the petty stuff and choose joy.

That is so true, Annie. Thank you for that reminder. I once heard someone pose a question that really struck me. If you woke up tomorrow with only what you had thanked God for the previous day, what would you wake up with?
Have a blessed day.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL example of love & faith and trust in God in good or bad … no matter what happens or how hard it is all the way to the very end. A rare thing and a privilege to see!
