Happy New Year! We rang in 2017 at a party with 20 friends and family members. We ordered pizza and filled ourselves with leftover treats from my brother-in-law’s wedding reception. We also enjoyed some delicious homemade crock pot hot chocolate (recipe coming tomorrow).
The college football bowl games were on in the background, but none of them went our way, so that was a bit of a disappointment. We played card games (Euchre, Up and Down the River, and Golf), Bananagrams, Rummikub, and a group game called Fish Bowl. When the clock struck 12, we did toasts with sparkling grape juice and sang the doxology hymn. How did you celebrate?

Our church had the anual gathering at the Pastor's house for New Year's Eve.

I sure did! I felt like a completely new person…until a few days ago. I guess some things never change.

Years from now, James, you're going to look back at this time and wonder why you were so upset.
SuperJames526
I know why I'm upset. It's because I can't escape/resolve my "family issues" no matter how hard I try.

Happy New Year to you, too, Shela! Sounds like a fun celebration. Fireworks would be a nice addition to a New Year's party.

Some people were born that date so it's always their party, and the millions of people in Times Square are yelling Happy Birthday just for them. ๐

Happy New Years Ellie & Mr.Handsome! I didn't do anything for New Years just stayed home and watch Bringing up Bates.
I don't have any friends anymore. My friends don't want to be friends with me since I don't drive.

I'm sorry to hear that. ๐ Wishing you a blessed 2017.

I spent NYE at my cabin with my brother, parents, aunt, and grandpa! We played Hearts and Up and Down the River for hours before going out on the porch to count down and cheer. ๐
nashvillewife@gmail.com
That sounds like a lot of fun. I didn't grow up playing many card games, but I have come to enjoy them. Is your cabin in the mountains? On a lake?
Happy New Year!

Hi Ellie – we had a very nice New Years. Went out to eat, then went to church service and were invited to friends after that. Had to get ready for the next day to host family for another Christmas get-together. I copied your hot chocolate recipe and would like to try it sometime. Could you please explain how to play the card games you mentioned and what is the fish bowl game? Happy New Year!
