During high school, I began copying my favorite Bible verses into a 6″x9″ notebook. Each page is numbered, and a table of contents with 16 categories keeps the book organized. I allot four to eight pages to each category, which leaves plenty of space to continuously add verses.
What are the 16 categories? Great question! I’ll list them below, along with several verses that correspond to each. In my notebook, most of the verses are written in either King James or New King James.

How many different versions of the Bible are there? Why?

Jack Van Impe is a good resource for information on how the Bible is being changed in recent years to leave out extremely well important parts such as Jesus being the Son of God! It is what people would think are reputable organizations that are doing this. Another place to learn about the Bible is a Bible museum.
The King James version is a good one I understand. I did a self motivated study on this topic and recommend to you to do that. It takes some time but reveals lots.

Their are many different versions of the Bible. King James Version New King James New International and International r the most commonly used. The reason why their r so many translations is because people have translated the first Bible King James Version into a language we use today. But in that translating we lose and gain knowledge that may not b true and the interpretation of the Bible will change with that.

My favorite is on your list, Matthew 6:34.
"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today."
I am a worrier by nature so this verse is comforting and helps me get perspective.

Thanks so much for posting this Ellie! I have tried on and off to read the entire Bible for years and just never been able to do it. Therefore, I started a project this summer where I focus on one, 1-2 line verse for 3 days. I memorize it and then reflect on it on and off over the 3 days before I move on to a new one. I also highlight the verse in my Bible and make a note of the verse so I can find it again. I am always looking for new ones that others find inspirational so I can add them to my list for future focus. Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂

I sympathsize with this person's experience. I suggest loving the Lord with greater strength, mind, heart by putting more into reading his word. I too have difficulty with getting the whole book! I got an inexpensive New Testament and started at the beginning and underlined everything I read, wrote in the margins, etc. I kept it up daily and persistently and finished within a month this summer, but I did not do the last book of Revelations. I have the Bible Old Testament read up to after the Ten Commandments and only parts after that, I have not just read it all through, that seems daunting! Why can't I do that? I can watch TV or waste time otherwise!
Do you think this is spiritual warfare?

Thank you Ellie for sharing this with us! I have a book that looks similar to yours that I use to record my favorite Bible verses and inspirational messages. I think it is a wonderful idea. I have many favorites, a few of them are Psalm 18:2, Proverbs 3:5,6 Philippians 4:13, Matthew 6:33. Do you attend Bible study groups or other church activities?

Hi there!
Those are all great verses! We just chose a church to settle at, so we are working on getting involved, but we do attend a weekly Bible study with friends from a different church.
Blessings,
Ellie

Genesis 8:1
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

I like this one too. It reminds me that hope is never lost. If God can help in circumstances like Noah's, he will help when I am facing a lesser difficulty.

Lately, I've been turning to Proverbs 31:26.
"She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tounge."
As a working wife and mom, I have been trying to think more before I open my mouth. It's hard sometimes 🙂

I love Luke 18:27…also Malachi 4:5-6 (see website the message.com )

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. "

I can relate to the comment about Proverbs 31:26. I think the verses on The Virtuous Wife is something that we as women need to read often. How easy it seems to act on impulse and get caught up in our worldly way of life. Another favorite verse of mine is "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." Matthew 16:25.

I write my verses on index cards and place them in envelopes with the subject written on the front. I keep the envelopes in a plastic box. Easy to place an envelope in my purse to read on my lunch break at work.

What a great idea! My Mom is always encouraging me to use scripture as a weapon against all my struggles. I really appreciate Proverbs 3:5-6!
