While picking up a few items at a farming goods store with his dad on Black Friday, Mr. Handsome found Orville Redenbacher popcorn poppers on sale for $19.99 (regular $39.99), so he bought 11.
When he came home and started unloading the poppers, my first thought was, “It’s going to take forever to wrap these!” But he was so proud of himself for finding such a good deal that I decided not to say anything. In addition to giving everyone a popcorn popper, we threw in one of our homemade scarves for all the ladies, which we put in separate gift boxes (thus creating MORE items to wrap).
On Saturday afternoon, I spent about five hours wrapping all the presents. Mr. Handsome would have been happy to help, but he worked five hours on Saturday morning, and it was a beautiful day, so I agreed to let him go fishing.
The time spent was well worth it when we saw the reactions on the faces of the hygienists, assistants, receptionists, and office managers as they opened their gifts.

Isn't that kind of an ironic gift for dental professionals? Popcorn can't be good for your teeth!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Haha, I didn't even think of that! As long as you floss immediately after eating, it's okay to have popcorn every now and then. π

There is no sugar in popcorn. Is it unfortunate that people need to eat and chew not just smile?! I love to eat!mmm popcorn!

Hi there!
I just texted my husband at work, and here's what he has to say:
"Popcorn is definitely a lot better than a lot of other snacks. It's fine for your teeth, unless you have bad gum disease and deep pockets around your gums. Then you have a risk of the shells getting stuck, which can cause infection. But regardless, flossing after eating popcorn is a must."
So if you have a healthy mouth, it's totally fine to eat popcorn, as long as you floss. π
Blessings,
Ellie

Ok maybe not.

So approximately 25 minutes per person, or maybe 15 minutes for each big gift and 10 minutes for each small gift? That's a tall order for you to fill. You are an elf.

It was nice of you and Mr handsome to give such nice and thoughtful gifts to the people he works with. I am sure the people who received them were very happy.

Ha, ha, ha this is like leaving Christmas wrapping until Christmas Eve and staying up ALL night to get the gifts under the tree by dawn! (Be sure to have coffee duribg the gift opening because next there is a lot of cooking to do!)
You are probably not going to make that mistake, but I am not so sure about you, Black Friday was awhile ago. Maybe you will put the next big wrap off till the last minute like the worst of us do too!

Here is a fun craft idea. It is inspired by the "Christmas Sweater" gift 'tradition': Make a mug Christmas 'Cozy'. One making them need not knit, just adapt a pre knit piece of knitting (tube of a sock?). And decorate creatively, your mind is the limit to ideas! The handle area presents a challenge. Try searching this idea on the internet. Thanks to my sweet friend for the idea to share here.

That's a cute idea! I'll have to suggest it for our family craft day next year. π

Our family LOVES popcorn too. Have you ever tried Fireworks Popcorn? It is grown in my corner of the country and is GMO free grown on a three generational farm. The Wisconsin White Birch will change the way you eat popcorn forever. Popped in coconut oil with just popcorn salt (no butter) and the flavor is well… I am drooling right now π It is so tasty although once you try it, you will never go back to the store bought variety. By the way, I loved binge reading you blog last night!

Hi Shelly!
I haven't tried Fireworks Popcorn, but if it's GMO free, then I might just have to. I also haven't tried popcorn salt. Does it taste better than regular salt?
Thanks for posting the Amazon link. I'm so glad you're enjoying my blog! π

You don't have to post this, but if you are curious about trying the popcorn, here is the Amazon link, they have all different sizes, but this is the best buy and I highly recommend the WI white birch. http://www.amazon.com/Gourmet-Popping-Corn-White-Birch/dp/B0096RB72I/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1449617062&sr=8-12&keywords=fireworks+popcorn

It's better to give then to receive. You should focus on giving rather then getting a good deal.

??? Did some one think that shopping Black Friday was questionable??? I think Ellie did right to shop this grand opportunity to get the best gifts possible for the people on her list. Doesn't the New Testament just say 'well done' when the servants of God apply their given talents to a good investment? Now are the people who received these gifts going to store them away and never bring them out to use them, or will they take them out and make popcorn to serve the Lord.
Boxes and boxes of popcorn were given away at a food bank, salted and buttered. That might not seem like much, but to a hungry belly it can be a meal when there is not much else to eat and it tastes really good then! What other occaisions do you see people eating popcorn in? Because it stores well prepared I can see people taking it on drives, hikes, to work, etc. and having a satisfying snack when there is a need for a quick bite. Good gift Ellie and Mr Handsome.

Good deals gotten can make for more valuable gifts given!

It took you 5 hours to wrap boxes! That seems like a long time for square boxes. Square boxes are easy. Wait until you have to wrap toys. Those come is the weirdest shapes and sizes.

That is when the really cheap wrap tears all over the place.

Popcorn with butter and icing sugar is the best! Not so good for teeth though…haha π π
