~Luke 24:6a
Happy Easter! I took the weekend off blogging, so I apologize for the late post.
Mr. Handsome and I were thrilled to be able to spend the holiday at a two-day gathering with his immediate and extended family, as well as my immediate family. (My extended family lives very far away, so we rarely see them on holidays.)
My in-laws attend church in a building that is more than 120 years old, which made for a beautiful setting for our gathering. The vibrant red front door was the perfect backdrop for our Easter picture.
On Saturday, we had lunch and dinner at the church, with plenty of games and chitchat in between. Instead of a traditional Easter egg hunt, we competed in a Scripture-based scavenger hunt, with Bible verses from the Easter story as clues. The church has an antique pipe organ, so we enjoyed playing Easter-themed hymns.
After church on Sunday, we had another meal together before saying our goodbyes. How did you celebrate Easter?
Shela G
A great picture of a beautiful couple!! My husband and I celebrated Easter by helping at our church outreach on Saturday. On Sunday had a good reserection service. Then enjoyed lunch with family.

That's odd….I live in the United States and work as a teacher. My school was closed on Monday due to Easter Monday. So definitely not just over seas.

We had school on Monday the day after Easter.

I love the idea of a scripture-based scavenger hunt. Can you post the instructions, etc. on how that was done. What a wonderful alternative to an egg hunt. Thank you!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Of course, Lynette! I'll figure that out and get back to you. π

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I recently went to Dillard's and bought a couple cute, modest dresses on the clearance rack, but I had to try on a few dozen to find them.

Love the picture and the red door! Your Easter sounded a lot like mine! A lot of my family lives close by, but Saturday we had our church gathering. This included a traditional egg hunt, meal, Easter skit, and a scripture based scavenger hunt too! It was so fun! Then Sunday we had Sunrise Service, breakfast, Sunday school, and regular service. Afterwards, my extended family had a rainy egg hunt at my great-aunts. We were SOAKED!! But had so much fun! I'm glad y'all had a great Easter too!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Well, Jessica! That sounds like a busy, fun-filled weekend.

Where did you find your dress? It's beautiful!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Thank you! It's a Calvin Klein dress from Bergners.com. My mother-in-law wanted to buy me a couple dresses for Christmas, so on Black Friday, she had me order several online and then choose my favorites once they arrived. The Black Friday deal made it $34 with shipping.

Now that's a deal on those dresses.
I don't wear dresses they don't look good on me. I mostly wear pants.
Anonymous
So who won? Or how did that go?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
The team that completed the scavenger hunt in the least amount of time won. Our team (Mr. Handsome and me and my dad and brother) came close to winning but didn't quite make it.

I spent Easter Sunday weeding my front yard with my husband and boys. Why, well because Easter is actually a pagan fertility goddess holiday. Dying Easter eggs, and eating chocolate bunnies has nothing to do with Him. The death, burial, and Resurrection of our Savior is during the Biblical feast of Passover. The Bible says that is in the month of the Aviv on the fourteenth day. Check out Deuteronomy 16:1, Numbers 28:16. Thats next month.
Jemma
Thank you! Many times the two fall closer in the calendar, and it does get a bit technical, but this year they do not. Christians have no business taking cues from pagan rituals.
Anonymous
You are correct about Easter being a pagan holiday.
Anonymous
Yikes! I don't consider coloring Easter eggs as a pagan ritual! We aren't sacrificing chickens! It's more of a family tradition much like how people decorate a Christmas tree for Christmas. I don't understand how someone can say a Christian has no business in that. There is no where in the bible where it states that one shouldn't color eggs or decorate a tree.
Anonymous
Just because some of the traditions are older then yours doesn't mean you can't have fun with them. Yes, Easter is a goddess from the past but as Christians we can still have bunnies, egg hunts, and Easter crafts. I'm sure Jesus would not mind us having fun while celebrating him.
Anonymous
While all that sounds like innocent fun, if you ask a child what easter is about, they always say the easter bunny. People grow up with mere traditions and the real meaning is always lost. Much like santa claus in place of our Savior.
Anonymous
Ummmm…actually the Bible says to be set apart. It says not to conform to the patterns of the world. What fellowship has light with darkness. Please show me a verse in the Holy Scriptures where its says that Jesus/Yeshua or any of His followers took on pagan customs. They didn't…But we do see Jesus keeping the feast of His Father like Passover. Check out Jeremiah chapter 10 about following pagan customs like Christmas.

Why would you want to be doing something that has deep roots in paganism?

I hope you don`t think I`m being rude-but when did you start wearing makeup? And what did you wear at first?
Thanks!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi there,
I'm happy to answer that question. π I hardly ever wore makeup in high school, only for special occasions. My friends either didn't wear makeup or didn't make a big deal about wearing it, so I suppose I just never thought about it. In college, a couple of the girls I lived with offered to give me a makeover. I liked how I looked, so I started wearing it every day.

I heard that wearing makeup can cause Cancer?
Thats why I don't were makeup.
I had a couple of friends get Cancer from makeup and their doctor told them to quiet wearing it all together. Their doing better know.
I also notice people were makeup makes you look older then they really are.
Anonymous
What about mineral makeup? Its natural so that should be ok to wear, right?
Anonymous
If I can chime in, I think that saying "wearing makeup causes cancer" is too generic to make sense.
In the case of your friends who got cancer, maybe it was one specific ingredient, contained in one or more products/brands, which caused damage, but it's not like makeup as a whole causes cancer.
We should all be careful about the ingredients in the products we use, and probably we could also learn to use it with taste and moderation, but properly worn makeup can enhance ohr features in a beautiful way.
For example I tend to be pale during winter, and also have quite strong bags under my eyes. Using concealer, bronzer, occasionally foundation makes me look a lot healthier.
I also think that it's good to have a couple no-makeuo days a week, so our skin breathes, but for me going out without make up, especially during winter, is like going out in my pijama, or in my sweats-> t's not forbidden, I could do it, but it's nice to put some effort into one's grooming. π

Easter continues on for 50 days ~ culminating on Pentecost Sunday. Our family attends Holy Week services Thursday – Saturday as well as Sunday. After mass we celebrate with a big dinner, plenty of love and laughter and an Easter egg hunt.
Anonymous
I don't celebrate Easter. It's just another boring holiday for me.
Going to church is boring too.
Anonymous
I stopped going to church years ago after I found out how the church doesn't preach the whole truth. For example the Bible says that the seventh day is His rest day (4th commandment), yet they have service/rest on Sunday (which is the 1st day of the week). The have Christmas trees in the sanctuary during the celebration of what is suppose to be Jesus birthday…that is a pagan phallic symbol. What? Believers are suppose to be set apart for Him, yet so many look just like the world and adapt the worlds customs and pagan traditions…

We woke up to find Easter baskets filled with candy and books from the Easter Bunny. Then went to a service at church and after that went out to eat lunch together as a family. When we got back we dyed Easter eggs bright colors and decorated them. There aren't any young kids, so we didn't hide them for an Easter egg hunt this year. To end the day we took our dog for a walk at the park.

That sounds like a fun Easter!
