Mr. Handsome and I are bracing ourselves for what is shaping up to be a very busy fall…
First off, my brother (my only sibling) will be getting married on the Oregon Coast. He and his fiancé were engaged last spring, so we’ve known about this event for a while. We’re planning to drive down to the Redwood Forest after the wedding. Any other suggestions of what we should see while we’re there?
Three months ago, Mr. Handsome’s youngest brother (he has two brothers and four sisters) proposed to his girlfriend of seven months. The two will tie the knot on the East Coast. Due to Mr. Handsome’s work schedule, it’s going to be a quick three-day trip, so we won’t have time for sight-seeing.
Between those two weddings, my oldest sister-in-law, Anne, is expecting her second child. (Remember my post about the gender reveal party?) We’re counting down the days until her due date and are excited to meeting our new nephew!
Needless to say, fall is going to be a whirlwind, but we’re looking forward to reuniting with family and friends and participating in all the festivities.

When I looked at the title, for a second I thought it was you with the baby, not Anne. LOL!

Lol! Nope, it's not me. 🙂

Growing up in Oregon I do have a couple of places to recommend. My absolute favorite is the coast since that is where your brothers wedding is you will already be seeing that. I would also suggest Mount Hood and Multnomah falls. They are both beautiful outdoor places. Be prepared for rain and wind at the coast. Fall weather can be very hard to predict in Oregon.

Yes, Ellie!! Multnomah falls is awesome! you have to climb all the way up to the top of the waterfall. So fun

Thank you for the recommendations! I'm going to look those places up. (I love waterfalls, and we both enjoy hiking.)

If you like waterfalls try Silver Falls State Park. It has a trail called the Trail of Ten Falls that includes one fall where you walk behind the water. My husband and I went there several years ago. We stayed in a little cabin at the lodge where dinner was included, plus they will make you a boxed lunch you can take on the hike.

Can i ask you if you are planning on trying to get pregnant soon??
nashvillewife@gmail.com
We don't really have plans yet, just taking life as it comes. 🙂

I wish people would stop asking you about this. I mean, first of all, it's between you and your husband. You should not have to discuss it with anybody else. You have been married for a year now, and you are building a great life together. That moment where you are just a married couple, without kids, is important to get to know each other, that's how you get a strong relationship for a stable family.
Also, I think about all these women who are trying and just can't get pregnant. It must be so hard to be asked this question over and over again, when you really want it to happen and it doesn't work. People should respect other's couples privacy.

This maybe a hard question to answer but do you have gifts picked out? What do you do for that? Does Mr Handsome help you to decide? Do they ask for presentation? If so do you do gifts as well? I guess they have registries, do you follow those? Just curious.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
The two of us talked about it, and were planning to give a sentimental gift to each couple (more on that later) and then also something practical off their registry.

I think it would be awesome if your husband painted a picture just for them, but that's just my opinion.

Ellie. You should have Mr Handsome paint a picture of the two of them.

Oh my, you will be quite busy! Blessings to the soon to be married couples, as well as, to your sister-in-law on the birth of their second child. Depending upon when in autumn you travel to the East Coast, you can enjoy the leaves changing colors and maybe an hour or two to pick apples. Enjoy this wonderful time!
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Thanks, Kell! Apple picking would be fun! Thanks to the idea.

You're welcome!

It depends if the fly or drive. If they fly you can bring food on the plane.
I new someone who tried to take Apples on a plane and they wouldn't let them they had to eat them right then.
Kell
True- if they are flying, most likely they couldn't take them home.

Hi Ellie. If you are planning on driving down the Oregon coast into California I recommend visiting Humboldt Redwoods State park. I have lived there my entire life and it is truly beautiful. If you are traveling from Oregon, drive south on highway 101. It will take you about 3 hours from the Oregon/California border. There are so many beautiful places to stop along the way, it's a beautiful drive. Humboldt Redwoods State Park has the largest amount of the tallest redwood trees in the world. I would recommend going to a place called Rockefeller forest to see the tallest trees and there is great hiking there. If you are looking for something educational I would go to Burlington. It's the headquarters of the state park and you can learn some of the local history there too.

Thank you for the tips, Sara. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Redwoods! That would be a beautiful place to live! Are there any redwoods outside the parks, like in people's yards?

I second this! I grew up in Humboldt County, but now live in GA, and when I go back to visit family, I am in awe of the redwoods and appreciate their beauty and size much more than when I lived there. I just visited Burlington Campground and Visitor Center a few weeks ago, and there is a great one-mile loop through the redwoods that was really enjoyable. And, yes, Ellie, there are redwoods all throughout the area. My parents and in-laws have dozens in their yards 🙂

Does Anne want a name pattern.
My husband's name is Lawson (not Bates, LOL), so I named our seven children after each letter in his name (my first child's name is (L)ydia, and so on. My seventh child was the first letter of my husband's middle name.
Anyways, I enjoyed telling you that little story!
Lots of love,
Yvette

That's a really clever pattern, Yvette! Thank you for sharing. I'm not sure if Anne is planning to do a pattern, but I'll pass this idea on to her. 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
