Over the weekend, Mr. Handsome and I had the opportunity to screen Priceless, a movie that was in theaters last fall and will hit the stores on Valentine’s Day (February 14th). Have any of you seen it?
Inspired by true stories, the film is a drama that portrays the horrors of human trafficking. The main character, James (played by Grammy award-winning Joel Smallbone of the band For King and Country) is a man who has made a few wrong turns since his beloved wife passed away and his inability to support his daughter caused social services to remove her from his care.
Desperate for a new beginning, James finds one in an unlikely place. He naively accepts a job hauling unidentified “cargo” and inadvertently steps into the middle of a human trafficking ring. When he realizes what is happening, James makes the decision to risk his life to save the girls who are being exploited.
Priceless is by no means a lighthearted film, as human trafficking is a very real issue that is estimated to enslave more than 20 million victims worldwide. However, the film brings much needed awareness to this atrocity and will hopefully encourage individuals and organizations to join the fight against human trafficking.
Rated PG-13, Priceless is certainly not suitable for young children. Parents showing the movie to their teenagers should exercise caution and be prepared to answer difficult questions.
Although emotional and heavy, Priceless has a very good ending, and Mr. Handsome and I are both glad we watched it. It breaks my heart to think of all the innocent victims who are being exploited by human trafficking, and I am hopeful that Priceless will spur us all on to take a stand against this terrible injustice.
Priceless can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and forkingandcountry.com. The movie trailer and “Priceless” music video are embedded below.

I went a life time with out really settling down and reading the Bible. That is an important thing to do I realize now. After years of going my own ways. Many choices were based on ideas and attractions from my environment and influences of other people. When I read Psalm 119 I was amazed! It is a very special Psalm. Do you have selections that you think are special in breaking down false, worldly thought that leads people astray of the Lord?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Hi there,
I also love Psalm 119. 1 John 2:15-17 is another good one about following God rather than the world. John 15:18-21 is as well. And Romans 12:1-2.
Have a blessed day. 🙂

I think it's important to watch movies about real, cruel, hard life. Because life is not family friendly for everyone. There are questions that we need to ask, challenges we need to face. And nothing will change if we don't accept to look at problems like this one, we won't be able to help if we don't know what is going on. I understand that some people will try to stay away from these issues because it's explicit, and far from godly. But still, there are hundred or even thousands of victims around the world, and they need help. We can't just look away.

I agree, Josée. I certainly wouldn't recommend that children watch this movie, but I definitely think adults should. No explicit content is shown, but it is still very difficult to watch knowing that is the reality for millions of people. But the victims need our help, and we can't just turn away, as you said.

Have you seen the movie Rogue One?
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Is that the new Star War's movie? We haven't seen it yet, but Mr. Handsome wants to, so we probably will. Have you seen it? What did you think?

Yes it is. Are you a Star Wars fan? You should go see it. I really liked it! In my opinion it is better than Episode 7 which came out last Christmas.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Good to know. I have only seen two of the Star Wars movies, but I'm trying to get into them because my husband likes them. He's not a super fan, but he does enjoy them.

Cool! Which ones have you seen? I'm not a crazy fan, but I have been watching Star Wars since I was a little girl! I'm enjoying going to see the new movies that are coming out now when I'm a teenager! One other thing, make sure you watch Episode IV after you see Rogue One! It is so cool to see how they tie in to each other!
P.S. Happy Sunday!! What did your pastor preach on this morning? Our pastor preached on Creation according to Genesis and how secular naturalists views on how old the earth is don't make sense as we look in Genesis at how God created the earth in 6 days. This is my mumble-jumble version of it but here is the link to the message if you'd like to listen: http://sermons.gbccv.org/?sermon_id=1994

Hi Naomi,
I've seen Episode III and the one that came out in 2015 (The Force Awakens). Some of the creatures are pretty cute. Lol.
Our pastor preached on Hebrews 12. Thanks for sending the sermon link! Are you in British Columbia? (That's where the website says your church is located.) How is the weather up there?

Hi Ellie!
Ok, cool! Yes some of them are cute!
Yes I live in BC! It just started raining today after about a month of cold, snowy weather which isn't very normal for us. We aren't very used to temperatures as low as -10°C although that's nothing compared to places like Manitoba who are getting -50!! Is it very cold in Nashville?
Naomi

Hi Naomi,
I have relatives in Manitoba, and they area always talking about how frigid it is. Nashville has been unusually warm. We had a couple weeks of cold, but now it's in the 50s-70s, which has been great!

God's Kingdom come, God's will be done….when we become Christians we are under the Lordship of Jesus Christ the Son of God. This kind of behaviour even if it is legalized as in Germany and Holland and other places does not pass as legitimate in his Government.
nashvillewife@gmail.com
Amen. Do you live in Germany or Holland? That's crazy that it's legal there.

It's a great movie!!

I am from Holland and I want to be very clear on this: human trafficking is NOT legal here. Our government did legalize prostitution to be better able to control it. It is heavily regulated with the aim of protecting minors, eliminating forced prostitution human trafficking. There are still problems here as well but the government and police are working hard to help every woman (and man) who are forced to prostitute themselves against their will.

That's for clearing that up, Suzanne.
