This week, a cold front (highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s, unusually cool for this time of year) has served as a reminder that summer is almost over. While I do enjoy fall, I decided to savor the last days of summer with some homemade strawberry lemonade. It's easy to make, and you really can't mess it up.
Ingredients:
7 cups sliced strawberries (about 32 ounces)
1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar*
1/2 cup honey*
6 cups cold water
25 ice cubes**
Directions:
Blend all ingredients but ice in a blender.
Add ice, and blend once more.
*Feel free to add more or less sweetener, depending on your taste preferences.
**If you want your beverage to be more of a smoothie consistency, feel free to add more ice.
Makes approximately 14 servings

Thanks Ellie, for the recipe. I love strawberry lemonade!! And will be sure to try your recipe. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yummy! We still have temperatures in the 90s here. I'm sure I will make this recipe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Mmm, I'm going to have to make some this weekend! Thanks for sharing Ellie!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I've definitely been loving this cool front. It's a little warmer where I am, but still really lovely for this time of year 😄
Your drink recipes always seem like they have so much sugar in them.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you always seem to complain about her drink recipes! You don't have to add that much sugar if you don't want too.
DeleteIf you don't want that much sugar add Splenda in it.
First of all, I don't always complain about Ellie's drink recipes. This is the first time I've ever commented on one. I just don't understand because she always seems to eat so healthy, but her drink recipes are always loaded with sugar. However, thank you for feeling the need to complain about me. Besides, my comment was an observation and not a complaint.
DeleteWe rarely drink anything but milk and water, so when I do make special drinks, I don't feel bad about putting sugar in them. Truthfully, I prefer less sugar, but if I'm making a drink for guests, I know I'll need to add more because most people prefer things sweeter. :)

Is Irma coming for lemonade?
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to be funny? Because that is far from funny, joking about the hurricane.
DeleteThank you!! I like this recipe 😊
ReplyDeleteThis looks and sounds delicious. We still have high temps here and this is a refreshing drink. Eileen
