Have you ever walked down the cereal aisle and felt completely and utterly overwhelmed? There are dozens of options to choose from, and the last think you want to do is purchase an entire box and find out after the first bite that you don’t like it.
This week, Kroger had their organic cereals on sale, so I decided to buy a few new ones. As expected, Mr. Handsome really enjoyed the cocoa bunnies.
I’m curious what your favorite cereal is? Mr. Handsome’s is Cracklin’ Oat Bran, but it’s expensive, so we only have it on special occasions. I don’t have a favorite, although I prefer cereals that are low in sugar. If you don’t like cereal, how do you kick off your day?

I don't like cereal for breakfast. We usually eat oatmeal with cranberries and walnuts. Sometimes I'll have banana pancakes topped with walnuts. Almost everyday I make a smoothie that contains coconut water, spinach, kale, blueberries, strawberries, banana, and add spirulina powder, and chia seeds. Other times I'll make a chick pea omelet loaded with sliced olives, spinach, sauteed onion, and almond "cheese" sauce.

Hi Ellie! We have protein to get the day started right. Eggs! We're eggy people! Eggs in every which way…but we're usually in a hurry at breakfast so fried eggs and toast is our usual go-to. Cereal, we keep for a treat or after Sunday evening church services.

I would definitely eat the pictured cereal, for a treat. But the same brand has mac 'n cheese and they really disappointed me by getting into the added sodium phosphate trend, in even their organic options. I stopped buying all food with added sodium phosphate, because it puts a strain on the kidneys, is what I read. I kick off my day with a home made cappuccino no milk, that milk steamer is a charm. (Even skim milk steams into a delightful froth!). In the mornings I often like an egg 'n whole grain toast (and the dog often gets the yolk). My treat is a cinnamon bun!

I'm a sucker for Cocoa Krispies, chocolate Malt-o-Meal,
and raiI'm sin bran crunch.
And I agree, the cereal aisle is overwhelming!

I forgot to add that I like to make my own granola because I like to control the ingredients.

I LOVE sugared cereal! My favorite one so far has been Marshmallow Mateys.

I donāt like sweet things in the morning, with the occasional exception of fresh berries. My absolute favorite breakfast is poached salmon, but thatās a rare treat.
I like oatmeal, not quick oats, with toasted sesame oil, nutritional yeast, mustard, and tamari, sometimes with some fresh garlic or green onions thrown in. Most people think this is a really weird meal, but I love it.

That sounds yummy! When I have time I will sometimes maked baked oatmeal which is a favorite in Mennonite homes.

I usually get Cheerios,Corn chex, and Wheat chex. That's what I usually eat in the morning .

We eat cereal once a week or so but we love a hot breakfast. Baked oatmeal is a favorite that's easy to make & fun to switch up with seasonal fruits.

I don't eat breakfast. I do intermittent fasting. I have my first meal at 12:30 pm and I need to be done with my last meal by 8:30 pm. It has really helped me with cravings and has really helped my stomach (I have stomach issues). It gives my body a 16 hour window to reset and I find I am no less beer constantly thinking about what I will eat next because I was always hungry. Not the case anymore.

Interesting . . . just looked up intermittent fasting and it seems I too am doing this but not intentionally. I'll have a coffee in the morning and then eat lunch around noon or 1 and dinner at 6 or 7. Anonymous did healthy concern drive this? Was it suggested to you buy a doctor? I always assumed it was't healthy to skip breakfast, but now I'm not so sure. Any reading material suggestions would be appreciated.

This is something that I saw in an article and I did a lot of research on it. I was finding that I was constantly hungry and always eating. I also havebstomach issues. With intermittent fasting, I now have 2 large meals which means I feel full in between meals and I'm not really snacking. I find I can concentrate more in the morning and I feel like I have more energy as well. If you google intermittent fasting you'll see a ton of articles that you can read through. I also have IBS and this has really helped keep my symptoms under control as well as it gives my digestive track a break. Hope this helped you!

Not eat breakfast is not good. You need to eat breakfast in the morning you are hurting yourself.

Google Dr Michael Mosley for the benefits of fasting.

Maybe you need a child when your husband starts playing the role.

What a very horrible comment to make. It is unnecessary to attack Ellie or her husband. We eat yogurt, eggs, bananas, etc. combinations of foods that fuel us for quite some time. Eileen

To the poster who said Ellie needs a child: Both Ellie and Mr H are mature enough to not even grace you with a response to your disgraceful and disrespectful comment. Just remember, to get respect in life, you must first respect people, that includes how you speak to them.

Her husband is awesome let him be a kid as long as he can, I love that he loves sugary cereals.
Dont rush into kids enjoy each other first.
Mr. H is awesome ignore mean people comments about him.

Captain Crunch Peanut Butter! Although I don't eat cereal very much any more.

What an awful thing to say about Ellie's husband. LOTS of adults love sweet cereal and other treats.

Farm fresh eggs every day!! It's fun to make them a variety of ways every week!!

I never eat cereal for breakfast. It's not very healthy– high in simple carbs and sugar, with no fat to make you feel full. And it's way, way overpriced for what it is, even on sale. Oatmeal is much more nutritious and cost-effective. Although I usually prefer toast and eggs for breakfast. Sometimes I will eat a small bowl of cereal as a dessert/snack after dinner, because that's really what it is– dessert.

It is too healthy for you. I lost 20 pounds for eating cereal for breakfast.

I love the granola from Aldi. Coconut Chia Seed is my favorite (and organic), Banana Nut is my husband's favorite, but we rotate and try them all. We have it most morning with plain greek yogurt, and sometimes top with a sliced banana or berries if they're on sale that week. Because there's so much protein in greek yogurt, it gives me much needed energy that lasts until lunch!

I abhor oatmeal and really dislike cereals, but, on doctor's orders to eat more fiber, I've gotten used to eating a small bowl of cereal each morning. Obviously not the sugary kind! After much searching, trial and error, I found the perfect brand that works for me: Nature's Path Flax Plus Multibran Flakes. They are not the cheapest out there, but they work for me.

I'm like you, Ellie as I switch flavors when I finish a box. I enjoy cheerios, honey bunches of oats and cinnamon toast crunch. I don't usually have a hot meal because of time constraints in the mornings as I take 2 buses to my job and the commute is up to 3 hours one way.
Anonymous
I ride bus too but I can't imagine 3 hours one way, ohhh my that's too long!
Caroline
I just love sugary cereal! I only buy it as a special treat, it's my weakness. My favorite is Fruity Pebbles (how silly to admit for a grown-up, but I just love it). I usually just have coffee in the morning, though.
Moon Sparkle
I like Rice Krispies and Coco Pops.

I absolutely love cereal, especially sugary cereal. My favorite is probably frosted flakes or fruity pebbles. But I never buy it because I know how bad it is for you! And I definitely wouldn't eat sugary cereal in the morning, would mess with my blood sugar too much!

For some reason whenever I'm sick I crave CAPN CRUNCH WITH CRUNCHBERRIES. I don't know why…

I like Rice Crispies and a banana for breakfast.
